My Current Makeup Routine

Wednesday, February 3, 2016

I think I've finally found a makeup routine that is PERFECT for my dry to normal skin. I've been using this products together for a few months now and think it's worth a share!

You can find links and prices to all these products down below, but I just wanted to give a special shout out to the RCMA No Color Setting Powder. I heard about this loose powder from Kathleen Lights after she raved about it in a recent video. If you've been spending big bucks on translucent setting powders, I've found your new best friend! First off, this powder is only $10 for a 3 oz. bottle. And yes, while it doesn't come in designer packaging, it's better than any loose powder I've tried (and I've tried them all)! Think about it...the Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder will set you back $37 for 0.33 oz. Which would you rather buy? An amazing product or a standard powder with high-end packaging? The RCMA powder is loved by tons of makeup artists on YouTube, so for $10 why not try it out?!

Beauty Blender - $20
Becca Backlight Priming Filter - $38
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation - $62

Wedding & New Years Resolution Update!

Sunday, January 24, 2016

Hi guys! I know it's been a while since I've publishes a post but my life has been a whirlwind these last couple months. We moved, got engaged, I started a new job and on top of that we're planning a wedding. BUT I wanted to update you guys on some wedding details and how my #sweatingforthewedding New Years resolution is coming along.

You know this if you already follow me on Twitter or Instagram but...I FOUND MY WEDDING DRESS! I had a wonderful weekend in Chicago trying on dresses at a three bridal salons with my mom, sister, mother-in-law, grandma, aunt and best friend from high school. Obviously, I want to keep my dress a surprise so I don't want to share any details. I will tell you it's from Sarah Seven, a dreamy designer out of Portland.

The Sarah Seven showroom in the Lincoln Park neighborhood in Chicago. Just a few blocks from my apartment!

Finding my dress means I've been in full #sweatingforthewedding mode and I've been extremely conscious about what I'm eating and how I'm exercising. Luckily, this Christmas was a fitness-gift year for me: my mom & dad got me a hot yoga membership and Meijer sent me a HUGE package of health goodies that helped me jumpstart my resolution (thank you, Meijer!).

In between browsing bridal magazines and picking wedding songs, my favorite thing to fill up on has been protein shakes.  Meijer generously sent me enough protein powder to last me until my wedding, so there are no excuses for me not to get fit! It's so easy - I just throw some water, two or three scoops of protein powder and a few frozen strawberries into my Magic Bullet and I have a delicious and filling shake in just a few seconds! So convenient for those days when I hit the snooze button a few extra times before work.

8 oz. of water
3 scoops of Vitamin Whey Protein French Vanilla powder (find it at Meijer!)
3-4 frozen strawberries
Blend for 30 seconds

If you live near a Meijer store, you have to check out their health and fitness products! I was so impressed with the wide variety of products they carry and actually ENJOYED them. There's nothing worse than trying to get in shape and not enjoying your diet.

Have any diet or exercise tips for me? Have a favorite recipe? Comment on this post so I can see!

Keeping Cozy on a Fall Date Night

Saturday, September 19, 2015

When I think of Meijer, I normally think of fresh produce, electronics and beauty essentials. But did you know Meijer also carries stylish apparel that can be incorporated into your existing wardrobe? I was  surprised to find so many things on my fall wish list, not just for me but for my hubby-to-be, so for our next date night we stocked up on cute accessories from our favorite grocery store.

On my mission to find fall date night outfits, I was able to snag up an adorable knit poncho and brown floppy hat. How cute are these two pieces together?! They incorporated so seamlessly into my existing wardrobe, pairing this cozy poncho with a white tank top, black leggings and my favorite ankle booties. This poncho may look loosely knit, but I was so warm and cozy all night long – it definitely didn’t disappoint. This adorable panama hat completed my casual date night look (and I received compliments on it all night long), along with my go-to designer bag that mixes effortlessly with Meijer’s items to top off the cozy-chic look. For my makeup, I went with my favorite fall-inspired smoky burgundy eye look (another collab with Meijer I loved!)

Even though he’s engaged to a blogger, my fiancé isn’t big on fashion. Luckily, we found this nice thick black sweater at Meijer that he wore over a collared button-up shirt – his favorite look! He loved how soft and thick the sweater was, and I loved how inexpensive it was to add to his closet!

Being a fashion blogger, I love finding new ways to stretch my budget – especially when it comes to stocking a wardrobe with all the trends from my favorite fashion magazines. Meijer is my new secret weapon when it comes to finding trendy items without paying designer prices. My favorite part? Trying out a trend, like a floppy hat or lace boot socks, without spending a fortune. No need to spend the big bucks if a trend isn’t one-hundred percent your thing. So next time you’re grocery shopping, you need to check out the women’s and men’s sections at Meijer. You will find fashionable and affordable pieces that can easily layer with existing wardrobe!

Posh Metals & Warm Neutrals

Friday, September 18, 2015

If I wasn't in advertising, I'd be working as an interior designer. It's in my blood - my dad designs furniture and my whole life I've been surrounded by homey, contemporary designs. After Devin and I are married next fall, one of my goals will be to completely re-design our apartment and take it from a mix-and-match of college furniture to a happy home for a married couple.

Devin isn't a huge fan of color (he thinks it can be rather "girly) so to keep my husband-to-be happy, I'll pick a metal-toned color palette, adding in creams, beiges and whites as accents. I love any shade of metal: gold, silver, rose gold or gun metal - I love it all.

One thing that's a must-have in our home - a big couch. Devin is 6'2" so you can image how cozy we can get on our little Ikea couch while trying to have a Netfix night! I'd love to get a nice long couch like this one from CB2. Add a couple fluffy throw pillows and this elegant yet cozy couch is ready for a movie night.

I love to personalize my space with pieces the reflect our relationship. Adding the "C & D" lights on the marble and gold shelves take this from anyone's space to home we can truly call our own. Finally, I'd top this room off with some gold and silver accessories. These pieces are timeless and would last us well into when we purchase our first home.
