A Weekend in Wisconsin

What's better than a long weekend with your best friends? A long weekend with your best friends in a beautiful beach-community in Wisconsin! After work today, I'll be headed to Wisco for a much needed relaxing weekend by the pool and on the lake. Here's some of the items I always take with me for a girls' weekend.

New Job, New Life...New Do!

Happy Friday, everyone! So, you may have noticed something different about me on Instagram and Twitter...I chopped my hair off!!

Yes, I made the gutsy move of cutting SEVEN INCHES of my beautiful long hair off. While I'm still getting used to it, I feel like it's more suited for my new post-grad professional life. I was in need of a change. I had my long hair for almost two years and it was becoming a pain to style every day.

For those of you who have short hair like mine, comment below with your favorite ways to style your hair! I'd love to hear what you're favorite styles are!

Featured Favorite: Evelyn Hensen

Because I resigned the lease on my apartment this year and didn't move, I promised myself a lovely little apartment makeover last month. Obviously, it hasn't happened yet because I've been so busy with work and adjusting to being on my own (financially). However, things are slowing down and I'm finally getting adjusted to financial independence, so I'm planning my redecorating mission!

I've featured Evelyn Hensen and her designs on my blog a few times now, but when I saw her Flirty Florals No. 2 painting on her website, I instantly fell in love. I love that it's fun and girly yet semi-muted enough to be considered "gender neutral" for my boyfriend. Hopefully he approves and this gorgeous painting will be hung in our home!

Black & White with a Pop of Pink

Like many girls who live with their boyfriend, I constantly struggle to not bring anything pink and frilly into our home. We've lived in our little apartment for over a year now and I'm still having pink decor withdrawals. Pins like this on my Pinterest allow me to daydream about my dream pink apartment!

I'm hoping to have my own separate office in our next apartment where I can decorate with as much pink as my heart desires (sorry, Devin)!

Cool Weather Necessities

I don't know about y'all, but I'm SO ready for fall. I'm sick of sweaty commutes to work and the miserable humidity we've had in Chicago this year. Don't get me wrong - I love the sumer, but I'm ready to bring out my jeans, boots, and adorable quilted jackets.

When I heard J.Crew came out with their new line of quilted jackets and vests, I jumped to buy this jacket and the coveted herringbone vest. I can't wait for them to arrive and for the weather to (significantly) cool down!

What fall-friendly apparel item are you looking forward to bringing out of your closet?

Currently Loving...

Ever since I resigned the lease on my apartment, I've wanted to redecorate to suit my new post-graduate life. I want to paint my walls a soft gray and decorate with lush patterns and a soft color palette. Here are a few things I'd love to have in my apartment:
Print | Chandelier | Throw | Ottoman (similar)

Summer Trend: Light Wash Denim

Jeans: 1 / 2 / 3
Sandals 1 / 2 / 3

We all know dark wash jeans are chic and slimming, but summer is the perfect time to trade those darker shades in for some lighter shades of blue!

I recently ordered these J.Crew Selvedge Toothpick Jeans and I cannot get enough! I'll admit, I was a little hesitant to purchase light wash jeans (they remind me of my awkward middle school years). But I figure if I pair them with some adorable summer sandals like these, I can make them work!

What's your favorite summer trend?

I'm not going to lie, life after graduation is completely different than I thought it would least after the first month.

I was one of the over-achieving college grads who decided to start my full-time job the day after graduation. I was so excited to be back at the advertising agency where I interned last summer that I didn't want to waste any time getting back. I'm regretting not taking at least a week off in between graduation and school.

I'm so exhausted.

I thought it wouldn't be as bad because I'm back at my old agency, but to my surprise, I was placed on a completely different team with new people. Don't get me wrong, I'm completely and utterly blessed to be where I am. I'm working in television media planning and I work with the most incredible people. but the transition from being an all-digital intern to a full-time television employee was much more difficult than I anticipated.

So yes, I absolutely LOVE job my job, but I feel like I'm already burnt out. For those of you who made the wise choice to take a break from school and work, I applaud you! The overachiever in me got the best of me, and I'm finally feeling the tiring repercussions. My utter exhaustion is probably what caused me to take a month off from my blog.

On the bright side, I have more time to spend with my friends that are still in the city and more "me" time (which is essential from someone like me who stresses easily). Hopefully this exhaustion is just a temporary thing which I adjust to my adult life. I'm hoping to get back into my regular yoga-doing, always-blogging, happy-go-lucky routine!
