Cool Weather Necessities

I don't know about y'all, but I'm SO ready for fall. I'm sick of sweaty commutes to work and the miserable humidity we've had in Chicago this year. Don't get me wrong - I love the sumer, but I'm ready to bring out my jeans, boots, and adorable quilted jackets.

When I heard J.Crew came out with their new line of quilted jackets and vests, I jumped to buy this jacket and the coveted herringbone vest. I can't wait for them to arrive and for the weather to (significantly) cool down!

What fall-friendly apparel item are you looking forward to bringing out of your closet?

Currently Loving...

Ever since I resigned the lease on my apartment, I've wanted to redecorate to suit my new post-graduate life. I want to paint my walls a soft gray and decorate with lush patterns and a soft color palette. Here are a few things I'd love to have in my apartment:
Print | Chandelier | Throw | Ottoman (similar)

Have some home decor items you think I'll love for my apartment? Comment with the links below or tweet them to me!

Summer Trend: Light Wash Denim

Jeans: 1 / 2 / 3
Sandals 1 / 2 / 3

We all know dark wash jeans are chic and slimming, but summer is the perfect time to trade those darker shades in for some lighter shades of blue!

I recently ordered these J.Crew Selvedge Toothpick Jeans and I cannot get enough! I'll admit, I was a little hesitant to purchase light wash jeans (they remind me of my awkward middle school years). But I figure if I pair them with some adorable summer sandals like these, I can make them work!

What's your favorite summer trend?

I'm not going to lie, life after graduation is completely different than I thought it would be...at least after the first month.

I was one of the over-achieving college grads who decided to start my full-time job the day after graduation. I was so excited to be back at the advertising agency where I interned last summer that I didn't want to waste any time getting back. I'm regretting not taking at least a week off in between graduation and school.

I'm so exhausted.

I thought it wouldn't be as bad because I'm back at my old agency, but to my surprise, I was placed on a completely different team with new people. Don't get me wrong, I'm completely and utterly blessed to be where I am. I'm working in television media planning and I work with the most incredible people. but the transition from being an all-digital intern to a full-time television employee was much more difficult than I anticipated.

So yes, I absolutely LOVE job my job, but I feel like I'm already burnt out. For those of you who made the wise choice to take a break from school and work, I applaud you! The overachiever in me got the best of me, and I'm finally feeling the tiring repercussions. My utter exhaustion is probably what caused me to take a month off from my blog.

On the bright side, I have more time to spend with my friends that are still in the city and more "me" time (which is essential from someone like me who stresses easily). Hopefully this exhaustion is just a temporary thing which I adjust to my adult life. I'm hoping to get back into my regular yoga-doing, always-blogging, happy-go-lucky routine!

Preppy in the Workplace

You can take the prepster out of college, but you can't take the preppy out of the post grad girl! I'm lucky enough to work at an advertising agency with a casual dress code, so I can but just as playful with my preppy wardrobe as I was in college!

I like to keep it simple with my post grad outfits. I usually stick to casual dresses like this one and pair it with a bold statement necklace for some color. One thing that consistent with my outfits? My Kate Spade handbag. My purse was a graduation gift from my dad, so I love carrying it every as a reminder of my parents' constant support through school and now into the real world.

So my mindset for post grad work attire? Simplicity is best!

Don't worry...I'm still a blogger!

Don't worry, everyone! I'm still here!

I really do apologize for the month-long blogging absence! The transition from school into my new job was more stressful than I anticipated it to be (so stressful that it gave me Shingles)! I've thought about my blog and readers every day since I've last posted, and honestly I feel so guilty that I haven't posted as much as I should have. I hope I haven't lost any of you during this mini-break!

So in true Chicago Prepster fashion, I'm ending my blogging absence with an inspirational quote!

Thank you everyone for being so patient as I try and figure our my post-grad life! More posts to come (I promise)!
